Now boarding for West Fargo

Quick topic and question today.  Did you know that there is a West Fargo Airport?  Most residents I talk with don’t!  Interesting fact though, every property tax payer in the city of West Fargo contributes dollars to support the West Fargo Airport.  Another interesting fact, if you land your private plane at the West Fargo Airport you don’t pay any type of fee.

So, the question is whether property taxes should be used to fund an entity or amenity that 99.9% of those tax payers don’t (and likely will never) use? At a minimum shouldn’t the actual people who use the airport (for their private airplanes) have to pay a fee for it’s existence?

Let me illustrate the issue another way. Do you know what is better than having a pool in your backyard? Having a neighbor who has a pool in their backyard. I’m guessing a HUGE majority of West Fargo residents use Hector and have never flown out of the West Fargo airport. So, why are we all paying for it?
